DCA is simple—until real life gets involved

Know what to buy before price movement makes the decision for you.

A disciplined contribution plan becomes harder when premiums, cash reserves, uneven metal performance and prior purchases all pull in different directions.

01

Allocation drifts

Silver runs, gold lags, or cash gets spent. A target percentage alone does not tell you what the next contribution should do.

02

Cost base gets messy

Premiums, fees, multiple fills and changing exchange rates make spreadsheet totals easy to break and hard to trust.

03

Emotion takes over

A written policy and visible target bands help you respond to price moves instead of chasing them.

One focused metals-planning workspace

Track the portfolio. Apply the policy. Make the weekly decision.

Weekly purchase planning

Direct new money where your policy says it belongs.

Set target ranges for gold, silver and opportunity cash. The planner compares the live portfolio with those bands and produces a reviewable weekly action plan.

Portfolio accounting

See cost, value and gain together.

Track fine ounces, total cost, current market value, unrealized gain or loss, contributions and available cash.

Performance history

Understand what changed over time.

Review portfolio value against net invested, saved weekly closes, daily history and gold or silver candlestick charts.

Transaction history

Keep the details behind every purchase.

Record or import trades, including premiums and fees, while keeping duplicate imports from distorting the portfolio.

Built-in safety

Local logs, integrity checks and backups.

The Planner checks its SQLite database at startup and retains automatic backups under your Windows user profile.

The core idea

Use ranges, not false precision.

A long-term metals plan does not need to rebalance to exact percentages every Friday. Set acceptable bands, protect opportunity cash, and use new contributions to pull the portfolio back toward policy.

  • Define minimum, target and maximum allocations.
  • Keep a cash reserve available for meaningful pullbacks.
  • Review the recommendation before recording any purchase.
  • Keep decisions and results visible from week to week.

Local first by design

Your portfolio records stay on your Windows computer.

Silver DCA Planner does not connect to a brokerage, place trades or require access to your investment account. Your transaction and policy database is stored locally under your Windows user profile.

Local SQLite databaseYour records are not stored in a hosted customer account.
Automatic local backupsRecent database backups are retained separately from the live file.
Market data onlyAn internet connection is used to retrieve current and historical metals pricing.
No automatic tradingThe Planner supports your decision; it never submits an order.

Common questions

Know what the beta does—and what it does not do.

Does the Planner buy gold or silver for me?

No. It creates a reviewable purchase plan and records what you actually do. It has no brokerage or dealer trading connection.

Do I need to create an online account?

No account is required for this beta. Portfolio records are stored locally on the Windows computer where the Planner is used.

What happens after August 31, 2026?

This beta build stops opening on September 1. Your database, logs and backups remain untouched. A newer build can continue using the same records.

Can I use Canadian dollars?

Yes. The Planner was built with Canadian metals investors in mind and supports Canadian-dollar portfolio tracking and related market conversions.

Is this financial advice?

No. The allocation policy and purchase plan reflect values entered into the app. You remain responsible for every investment decision.

Who is developing it?

Silver DCA Planner is being developed by Randy Sekura, Chartered Professional Accountant and software developer, in Hanna, Alberta.
